About this work
Description
Two maroon metal (tin) boxes imprinted in golden lettering with Burroughs Wellcome & Co. (The Wellcome Foundation Ltd.) London, and unicorn symbol, containing Wellcome Foundation product literature, for distribution to the medical and veterinary professions only, dating from the 1940s to the 1960s.
A number of them have a 'PMR' number written on the top, thought to mean Product Marketing Register. Some also have the name of the printers/artists on the front of the leaflet, e.g. Cox and Sharland, Leagrave Press, Wickham Press.
One box contains alphabetical index cards for the letters M-Z with product leaflets filed in alphabetical order; the contents of the other box are filed randomly and without any alphabetical index card markers although the majority of content is of products beginning with A-E.
