Biographical note

Ansted, David Thomas (1814-1880), geologist, born in London. His wrote books on geology, earth history, physical geography, local studies, and travel. He was a geological consultant to mining and other commercial companies as well as a regular lecturer. He delivered the Rede lecture to the University of Cambridge in 1863. He died in 1877.
