The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "The unidentified subject, who ‘escaped from the Turks dressed as a woman’ is shown in military uniform and wearing rather bizarre drag in which he is named as Bobbie De Lys, a reference to the renowned music-hall performer Gaby Deslys .
