Description

Lectures on the Practice of Physic. Delivered at Edinburgh University. On p. 74 of Vol. I, the lecturer makes a reference, which helps to fix the date of these notes: 'My Father (i.e. John Gregory [1721-1773] who was at that time (about 50 or 60 years ago) a Student at this University.' Produced in Edinburgh.

Physical description

10 volumes 9 vols. 4to. 251/2 × 19 cm. Original calf bindings, some damaged. Written on the rectos only. The numerals on the spine of Vols. I, III, V and IX appear to have been deliberately defaced.

Purchased 1907 (Vol. I, III, V, IX), 1911 (Vols. II, IV, VI, VII, VIII).

Biographical note

John Gregory entered Edinburgh University as a student in 1741, and went to Leyden in 1745.

Ownership note

A faint pencilled note inside the upper cover of Vol. I appears to read 'From Abernethys Library'. There is no mention of the writer of these notes.
