Left-hand side on plate: Photograph of a framed drawing of a Swazi sangoma consulting with spirits, with handwritten caption underneath the frame, "Swazie Witch-Doctor, 'Smelling' out a sorcerer by consulting with the ancestral spirits in a dance…", likely in preparation to be displayed in the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum. Right-hand side on plate: Reproduction of a photograph, after a painting by E. Schwartz, of possibly a Zulu sangoma seated wearing traditional dress, with caption underneath, "Zulu Witch-Doctor", likely to have been used when displayed in the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum. This item was accessioned on February 1915 by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum (Acc No R1042, PHO 764).
