The correspondence has been left in the six series which were discernable when the papers were received. Series A.1 and A.2 were scattered throughout the rest of the collection and had to be reconstituted. The correspondence files also include articles, reviews, obituaries and photographs. There is much overlap in subject matter and correspondents between the series, which have been indexed to facilitate cross-referencing. The 1937-1960 correspondence (A.1, A.2, A.3) had already been weeded as evidenced by lists on file covers and the much smaller bulk compared to the post 1960 correspondence (A.4, A.5).
