The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "A Pierrot revue on board ship. Pierrot is wearing a sailor’s pea-jacket, adapted to resemble the typical pierrot costume with large bobble buttons, and further bobbles attached to the loose fitting trousers. His companion is wearing a girls’ sailor suit and lots of make-up. World War One period."
