About this work
Description
Part 2 of 2 programmes in which neurologist Mark Lythgoe explores the split between the 'Two Cultures' to find out why CP Snow s original lecture of 1959 caused such a furore at the time. In this part, the question of what happens when the 'Two Cultures' come together is addressed. Alex James from Blur is the new artist in residence in Oxford University s Physics Department. Wellcome Trust's activities over the past 10 years, investing £3 million in 'Sciart' projects, is mentioned. However, biologist Lewis Wolpert thinks that "art has contributed zero to science".
