Nephrosis in children.

Using the case study of a small girl, Barbara, the film shows the discovery and diagnosis of nephrosis using laboratory tests and clinical signs. Advanced disease is shown in a young boy who has prominent ascites and oedema. Treatment is shown using ACTH and terramycin. A variety of complications such as hernia, peritonitis, rickets and pneumonia are shown in other sick children. The film concludes by reminding the viewer that the possibility of progressive kidney failure and death is balanced by the likelihood of a full recovery if antibiotic therapy is correctly and swiftly administered.
