About this work

Description

Winifred Robinson follows Darren and Debbie, the parents of baby Charlotte Wyatt, as they prepare for the day when she can swap her hospital bed for a life at home. Charlotte is two-years-old now but was born massively premature, suffering severe brain and lung damage, and has spent her entire life at St. Mary's Hospital in Portsmouth. Charlotte was the subject of a number of court battles as to whether her life was worth saving or would just mean her living in constant pain. As Debbie and Darren discuss their daughter's condition, it becomes apparent just how many hurdles they face. There are run-ins with neighbours who claim they can't control their dog, the prospect of further court battles over Charlotte's care and the problems of raising four children under the age of four - without any support from family or friends.
