About this work
Description
Complacency over the defeat of contagious diseases has provided opportunities for virus infections to re-establish themselves and for new viral diseases to emerge. Archive film, microscope pictures of some of the world's most dangerous known viruses, including Rift Valley, Ebola, Marburg and Lassa Fever, and interviews with leading scientists including Prof. Roy Anderson (Imperial College, London) and Dr. David Simpson (Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast) create a dramatic warning against consigning any disease to history. The second part of the film is largely concerned with the HIV virus and suggests how it may have crossed species from monkeys to man.
