Lettering

Marsden D. 16.5.52. Marsden D. 16/5/52 Bears number: 53 One of the snakes is inscribed "A patient", and two of them are inscribed "Staff". The name of the artist and the date are inscribed twice on the verso, once in ink on a label and once, in pencil in Edward Adamson's hand, on the sheet itself (with the day of the month changed from 15 to 16)
