About this work

Description

Feature-length documentary narrated by Woody Harrelson. In the 1940s, New York's Mayor Fiorello La Guardia commissioned a report that discredited accepted views on the medical, psychological and social impact of marijuana. Yet its possession remains a criminal offence and documentary film-maker Ron Mann here sets out to discover why. This film makes excellent use of archive footage and isn't simply a plea for tolerance - it also explores the racist history of US drug laws.
