About this work

Description

A large collection of entries, chiefly religious and philosophical, from numerous works, many of which are sermons, including those of Bishop Andrewes, i.e. Lancelot Andrewes, 1555-1626, Bishop of Winchester. There are also many reflections and other paragraphs that are original (fo. 1-76 and 96-111). On fo. 72 is a Latin epitaph, evidently that of the writer's father, Philip Lewis of Piteley, Northamptonshire, who died in 1691, aged 57. This is an interpolation, added later.
