The Virgin is said to have appeared to Saint James the Great on top of a pillar on the banks of the river Ebro. The Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar (Catedral-Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar) was built on the site in Zaragoza
