About this work
Description
The eigth in a ten-part series in which Dr Geoff Bunn journeys through 5000 years of our understanding of the brain. In this part, he focuses on the work of Otto Loewi in Austria and Henry Dale in England, both of whom established that communication within the brain is chemical and not electrical. As part of the programme, actors read extracts from those who have written about the brain across the ages and an imaginary anatomy lesson takes place, this week focusing on neurotransmitters acetylcholine and adrenaline.
