About this work

Description

Cryo scanning electron micrograph of lung epithelial cancer cells (cytoplasm is coloured green while nuclei are red/brown). The cells are taking up carbon nanotubes (yellow). Carbon nanotubes are allotropes of carbon with a cylindrical nanostructure which have been recently explored as drug delivery systems due to their "nano-needle" like characteristics. Diameter of each individual cell is approximately 15 micrometers.
