About this work

Description

A programme about conjoined twins which looks at 3 sets of such twins and the choices they and their families make about whether or not to attempt separation. Guatemalan twins Josie and Teresita Alvarez had surgery to be separated when they were babies. Iranian sisters Laden and Laleh Bijani risked surgery as young women, while American sisters Lori and Dori Schappell have learned to live with their condition and function as best they can. We see footage of the surgery to separate Josie and Teresita and follow their progress after surgery. We hear how Laden and Laleh's surgery ended in tragedy in 2003. And we look at daily life for Lori and Dori.
