In the German publication, described as "Der Pogner", i.e. Bogner (bowmaker). The objects here interpreted as bolts may be bird-catching instruments. The bowyer raises an unfinished crossbow shaft to eye level to check that it is smooth and straight. A customer chats with him through the open window
