About this work

Description

A film about the clinical techniques used in a consultation when a patient presents with amenorrhea (lack of menstrual flow). The obvious reason for this is that the patient is pregnant. The first patient (who featured in No. 3 in the series) is not pregnant. The doctor examines her breasts and indicates what to look out for. Her abdomen is palpated then her vagina is examined. The second patient is pregnant; the film explains how to calculate when her due date would be (her 'confinement'). There is a side-long view of a pregnant patient shot against a grid as her pregnancy develops. Finally the doctor listens for the baby's heartbeat.
