About this work

Description

A documentary looking at the devastating effects of meningitis on young children. We hear from families whose children have been more or less affected by the potentially deadly virus, including one family whose son died. And we follow attempts of GP's to impliment a mass vaccination programme at a school in South Wales. The general consensus of the medical profession seems to be that parents need to be aware of the early symptoms of the disease and act quickly if they suspect anything at all, in other words awareness of the early symptoms is the best form of defense. Unfortunately in some cases the parents' awareness has been met with lack of awareness on the part of their GPs and has resulted in tragedy.
