Thought to portray Susanna Fourment, subsequently the sister-in-law of Peter Paul Rubens. Her hat is referred to in the lettering as a straw hat, though it is not made of straw. In Flemish it was called a "Spaansch hoodje" (Spanish hat)--Rosenberg. loc. cit. There is an engraved trompe l'oeil border
