About this work

Description

in situ hybrisation showing reduced levels of specific mRNA on the right hand side of an embryonic spinal cord into which an siRNA has been transferred by electroporation. The amount of purple stain shows the amount of mRNA present. The presence of the small inhibitory RNA (siRNA) interferes with the normal functioning of the mRNA which in turn interferes with the normal function of the tissue. Such studies allow the function of a gene to be better understood.
