Reduction in mRNA levels due to RNAi

The amount of purple stain shows the amount of mRNA present. The presence of the small inhibitory RNA (siRNA) interferes with the normal functioning of the mRNA which in turn interferes with the normal function of the tissue. Such studies allow the function of a gene to be better understood.
