Refr: Wellcome II, p168 Note: Edward Binns graduated MD at Edinburgh in 1828, and had a fashionable practice in Portman Square, London. As a physician he is only remembered as the author of the above work. The first edition, published in 1842, was the first recorded book to be printed using a typesetting machine. Due to opposition from London compositors the above second edition was typeset by hand in the traditional way
