Description

Marcus Atilius Regulus defeated the Carthaginians and captured Tunis, but offered impossibly severe terms. He was then defeated at the battle of Tunis and was captured; this event ended the African expedition. He was sent to Rome to arrange the exchange of prisoners and tortured on his voluntary return to Carthage
